How to use your new Your Name in Soap™ molds.

Making soaps in your new Your Name in Soap™ molds is fun and easy. All you need is a microwave and a microwave safe container and M&P or Melt & Pour soap base to cast in your molds.

A double boiler will also work and so will a small soap melting pot that can sometimes be purchased from larger craft stores. You can easily make your own double boiler by using two pans on a stove top as well.

Most larger craft stores now carry an assortment of M&P soaps you can use along with colors and other additives. We prefer to only add natural ingredients to our soaps like finely ground Rosemary and other herbs.

Melt the M&P soap according to the instructions on the containers. You will need to make sure you don't over heat it or heat it to fast. Once it starts to melt, it will continue to melt into a thick liquid fairly quickly while you stir it. Over heating it will make the fine oils separate and ruin the M&P soaps. Be patient, this is the part that will make the difference in making successful castings.

Spread wax paper on your counter or table top to catch the soaps you will scrape off of your molds if you over fill them. There is never any waste as you can continue to re melt the soaps from what you reclaim off of the wax paper. Let any of the soap base that gets on the wax paper cool, and you will be able to simply peal it off and re melt it to use it for more castings.

Place the clean molds on the wax paper and pour the melted soaps into the molds. Tap the table top to get any air bubbles to leave the surface of the mold so they don't leave voids on the finished pieces.

Let the molded soaps cool in the molds. Pick up the molds and turn them over with your hand under them to catch the soaps in case it falls out of the molds. If it does not come right out, simply put a little pressure on the face of the mold to press it out and release it. Scrape off any flashing that may be on the edge of the casting and they are ready to use or package for use later or to give away for gifts.

You can put the finished castings in cellophane bags available at most craft stores and use labels, tape, or ribbons to close them. Depending on the event you might be doing this for, you can use different colored soaps, ribbons, herbs, and other decorations to accent your castings.

Making Your Name in Soap™ creations and putting them in gift baskets is a VERY special way to show how much you care. They are also great for accents for your home and for helping each family member identify their own bars of soap to use. Each family member can have their own preferences for what they want in their soaps too.

Want to impress a special guest that is coming to visit for a while? Now you can, and they can have a personalized soap gift to take home with them.

Don't forget, if you have a pet that you like to make your own soap for, this is a great way to keep your soaps identified as personal items for them too!
